With a custom tree-inspired pattern, Maglin’s FLEXX Panels blend nature and engineering
The Forks of the Thames, where the North and South branches of the river converge, is a site of historical, cultural, and environmental significance in London, Ontario. As part of a recent revitalization, the City of London reconstructed the retaining wall in front of the Walter J. Blackburn Memorial Fountain—a focal point at the Forks—to ensure long-term protection of the fountain, adjacent plaza, and Thames Valley Parkway.
To complement these improvements, Maglin collaborated with Ron Koudys Landscape Architects to design and engineer a custom FLEXX Collection Panel fence system at the lookout point. Featuring a laser-cut pattern of branches and trees, the panels take inspiration from the site’s forested surroundings—a fitting tribute to London’s reputation as The Forest City. Beyond aesthetics, the design creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow while ensuring durability and safety. The result is a refined, functional, and visually striking feature that seamlessly integrates with its natural setting.
