Sparks Street Mall

Sparks Street Mall in Ottawa, Ontario is not only a heritage district, but Canada's first pedestrian mall. Located one block south of the Parliament Buildings, Sparks Street was founded in the early 1800's by Nicholas Sparks - one of the City Fathers of Ottawa. The Bell Block building constructed in 1867 uses a commercial Italianate style of architecture and is one of the oldest surviving buildings on Sparks Street.
