ISSUE NO. 4

Meriter Retirement Community is located in downtown Madison, Wisconsin, just blocks from the State Capitol and the heart of the vibrant arts district. In May of 2004, the new MainGate residence opened, offering luxury living for independent adults 55 and over. As part of the new construction, the entire campus also gained a number of new amenities designed to help older adults achieve the best quality of life possible, including programs for fitness, the arts, and lifelong learning. The Garden Plaza, one of the many new surroundings to the retirement community allows residents to enjoy the outdoors and interact with friends and family.

In the Garden Plaza, Maglin's MLB450W benches grace a lovely garden oasis in an urban setting. The MLB450W benches were chosen by architect Jim Moran of SGN&A, for their design and quality wood construction. Residents enjoy the sense of community created by the grouping of benches in the Garden Plaza.
SGN&A

Formed in 1992 and based in Atlanta, Georgia, Simonson Germany Nonemaker & Associates, Inc. is a professional corporation providing comprehensive design services in architecture, planning and landscape architecture for clients throughout the United States. SGN&A specializes in the planning and design of large scale, high density, and multi-family residential projects. Their team of architects, planners and landscape architects work together to develop solutions which combine the requirements of the building program with an understanding of the site and planning constraints. This integration of design disciplines results in projects that are distinctive as well as functional.

Jim Moran made the decision to specify Maglin benches for the Meriter Retirement Project based "primarily on aesthetics and their ability to provide a radiused bench (not shown here) in a natural (not simulated) wood product."
