Electrocoating - The First Line of Defence E-coating is an automotive industry standard. It is an advanced coating method in which electrical current is used to attract a uniform paint film to the surface of the metal being painted. Maglin's E-coating process includes ten stages of cleaners, sealers and electrostatic primer applied to the entire steel unit. The unit is actually immersed in a primer bath that allows the coating to flow into all joints and between overlapping surfaces. The primer coating is then baked onto the surface of the steel to create a bond that provides superior corrosion protection. Maglin's E-coating process uses lead-free paint and chrome-free sealers in a closed system, thus significantly reducing hazardous emissions. Close Box
Powdercoating - Paint That's Just Right - Paint that's too thin erodes quickly. Paint that's too thick cracks and peels. Maglin powder is applied in accordance with manufacturers' specifications to obtain the mil thickness that will maximize surface protection from abrasive, chemical or climatic conditions. Our Powdercoat process involves six stages of cleaners, rinses, and an electrostatic powder application that finishes with an oven bake that provides the best surface adherence and protection available. Our Powdercoat is produced to European standards that ban the use of TGIC (Polyester Triglycidyl Isocyanurate), a flow agent directly linked to skin and respiratory ailments. TGIC-Free paint helps reduce waste because it adheres better-and meets all the expectations of powdercoat quality. Close Box
Maglin uses Brazilian Ipe ("ee-pay"), also known by the trade name Pau Lope wood from expertly managed sustained-yield forests. This beautiful and extremely hard and dense wood withstands punishment from both natural elements and people. During the harvest, each tree is hand selected to give adjacent, small trees optimal growing conditions. Entire communities benefit from year-round employment (rather than from agriculture or cattle farming that ravage the land) and because their forests have enduring economic value. Ipe has been approved by the Audubon Society for construction of the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary Boardwalk. Portions of the Coney Island Boardwalk were constructed using Ipe and have withstood over 40 years of use and exposure with no apparent wear. Basically, the tropical jungle has done millions of years of research and development to produce what may be the strongest and most durable wood on the planet. Maglin's reputable supplier utilizes sustainable forestry practices which promote further development in the Amazon forest and preserve the structure, biodiversity and ecological functions of the tropical rain forest. Stain, varnish or paint is not recommended for exterior use as weathering will make constant refinishing necessary. Ipe will weather to a natural gray patina. Close Box

The HBBF bench ends are made from solid cast aluminum. The seat employs 1.25"x 3.375" (3.2cm x 8.6cm) bullnosed wood slats. Available options include arms and double models.

All steel components are protected with E-Coat rust proofing. The Maglin Powdercoat System provides a durable finish on all metal surfaces. Wood slats are finished with semi gloss or penetrating sealers.

The HBBF bench is delivered pre-assembled. Holes (0.5") are provided in each foot for securing to base.
